Mexican fire leg tarantula

Habitat: Mexico

Lifestyle: Living in soil

Leg lenght: Approx. 15-16cm

Body length: Approx. 6-7cm

Appearance: Similar looks like its relativem the Br. Smithi. It back-disc is dark brown, light brown bounded by borders. With the exception of knee and lower leg – that fiery red, the rest of the all-black spider. They grow slowly but live long.

Keeping: 25x25x25 cm is sufficient for terrarium

Placement: Use soil 5-8 cm high turf, chemical-free potting compost, coconut fiber. Have a place in the terrarium which is a little wetter. They like to reorganize its residence and will often dig up the terrarium. The temperature is 25-28C (which can decrease to 20C at night) and humidity should be set at 65-70%. Watering put must be provided. They accept all food in accordance with its size.

Behaviour: it is an easily held spider, although at an early age (5-6 molting) it is easily frightened, in the subsequent period up to the adulthood, however, it is more aggressive (starts hair-bombing at every movement), but will calm down when becoming adult. Not a quick spider and rarely takes up attacking position but it is always prone to bombings.
