Toco Toucan

Species belonging to the piciformes (Piciformes) and to the order Toucans (Ramphastidae) family, also known as The Toco Toucan (Ramphastos toco). This is the largest sized species of Toucans.

It lives in South America’s lowland rain forests from Suriname to Argentina’s Northeast. The western border of the natural habitat of the species is in Peru and Bolivia. They spend most of the time in tree burrows.

Appearance: Height 50-60 cm and weighs 350-450 grams. Easily recognizable yellow-orange and black beak and white feathers. This species has the largest beak from the Toucans. Hallmarks of the white heads and orange plumage around his blue eyes. A giant toucan can live up to 20 years.

Lifestyle: Primarily feed on fruits, insects, eggs. Its giant beaks help them take down larger fruits. Then it squeezes the fruit with its beak and drinks the juice. it eats smaller fruits in one.
